The City Council of Estepona, through the Sociocultural Area and Services, informs that the Drawing and Painting Workshop of the delegation of Culture will commemorate next Tuesday, November 28, 2017, the IV centenary of the birth of the Sevillian painter Bartolomé Esteban MURILLO (1617 -1682), with a painting exhibition and a lecture.
At 7:00 pm, the inauguration of the exhibition “Murillo seen by children” will be held at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, held by the students of the Children and Youth Painting and Drawing Workshop. Then, the teacher of the workshop, Rocío Garín, will give the lecture “Murillo, painter of rogues and saints”, in which she will speak about the work of the artist, considered as the painter who best defines the Spanish Baroque. The speaker will talk about the author and his work; from the point of view of an artist, he will refer to the problems that arose and how they were solved, and he will also talk about his workshop; how the paintings were made in their time, how they worked with the Inquisition, the orders that they did to him … In addition, he will show half a hundred images of some paintings recently cataloged and others that have come to light, and will demystify many legends

Rocío Garín. From a very young age, the artist Esteponera Rocío Garín (1977) has enjoyed “drawing and painting”, a concern that led her to study at the School of Arts and Crafts in Algeciras and, later, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, where she license in 2001. She quickly began working as a restorer of some of the most significant monuments in Seville, as well as facades of churches in the capital of Seville.
Since her return to Estepona, she teaches drawing and painting, an activity that combines with three aspects of her artistic facet: as a researcher, as an artist, and as a teacher, she has developed different didactic methods.
In 2013 he published a “Manual of Drawing and Painting” in which he collects the main techniques and tools to be taken into account in the first year of student training.
